SAMPARC was started by Shri Amit Kumar Banerjee and Smt. Lata Pande in 1990 for the rehabilitation, care and educational development of orphan children, children of sex workers and other needy, poor and disadvantaged children. Today there are 650 children housed in 9 SAMPARC centers of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Gujarat. SAMPARC runs a school from 5th to 12th Std along with hostel facility in Mulshi Taluka and an English Medium School from Nursery to 4th Std for poor and needy children of Maval Taluka. SAMPARC runs a Community Education Support Program which provides education, school stationary items along with nutritional support to poor rural children from 6-18 years age group and currently benefits 700 children. The SAMPARC Vocational Training Centre aims to train rural and unemployed school drop outs to make them employable and financially independent and provides them training in electrical wireman, welding, computers, tailoring etc. The SAMPARC Medical Centre provides regular medical help and health service to the rural poor patients of Maval Taluka through its OPD clinic and also runs a Medical Mobile Van which visits interior villages twice weekly to treat patients. A massive venture for the Rural Women was started by SAMPARC in 1992 through the concept of Self Help Group and today, 187 Self Help Groups of 42 villages are active under the program and taking advantage of DRDA Pune and various other Banks. A special project for the Katkari tribal children in Mulshi Taluka supports 182 families where children are brought to the school and livelihood and rights oriented activities are developed for the tribal families. SAMPARC was awarded the "National Child Welfare Award" by Govt Of India in 1998.
